Windows 10 a preview

The end is in sight: Windows 10 will be released on July 29 as a free download for anyone running Windows 7 , Windows 8, or Windows 8.1 ; the free update will be available for a year. If you aren't eligible for the free upgrade (perhaps one of the many still running Windows XP) you can also pick up individual licenses. Windows 10 Home will set you back $119, and Windows 10 Pro will cost you $199. There isn't any word on international pricing, but those prices are identical to Windows 8 pricing, and convert to £78 / AU$156 and £131 / AU$262 for the Home and Pro versions, respectively. The Windows 10 Technical Preview has come a long way over the last nine or so months , but there's still plenty left to iron out before the next generation of Windows is humming along on our PCs, tablets and phones. To that end, the latest build of Windows 10 (Build 10130) is all about bug fixes and cosmetic tweaks. Get a closer look at the Windows 10 Technical Preview (pictures) The Micr...

LG G6

One of the few design decisions that remained was the dual camera on the back, only this time it sits flush with the phone's body. Below that is the signature sleep/wake button that doubles as a fingerprint sensor. It's been years since LG made this a mainstay of its high-end phones, and I appreciate the placement. The sensor was always within reach of my index fingers, but it occasionally needed a few clicks to unlock. Meanwhile, you'll find the volume keys on the left side, directly opposite the microSIM and microSD card slot (which takes up to 2TB of additional storage). You'll probably need the latter too. In the US, the G6 comes with 32GB of storage, only 19GB of which are available once you crack open the box. There's a USB-C port on the bottom, a headphone jack up top and that's really it. Well, except for the G6's claim to fame: the display. Since the screen is the single biggest change to LG's G Series formula, let's dig a little d...

Rumours about Hudawi p20 and p20 plus

Huawei P20 and it will come in three versions (at least). And the top model of the three will sport a notch, similar to the iPhone X. Its screen bezels are nearly non-existent, all except the bottom one are razor thin. The fingerprint reader is on the back, below the camera (more on that in a second). And the top bezel features a notch to accommodate the earpiece, selfie camera and sensors. Huawei has already demoed its own FaceID-like tech (that will be better than Apple’s, company officials say). That’s not visible on the schematic though and there doesn’t seem to be much room, but who knows. Schematics: Huawei P20 • Huawei P20 Plus • Huawei P20 Pro Anyway, back to the camera – or should we say  the triple camera . It’s positioned vertically and it runs down the middle of the phone. On the Huawei P20 and P20 Plus the camera is in a different position – off to the left on the Plus and rotated 90° on the vanilla model. Both have a fingerprint reader on ...
