Vivo X5 Max: Specifications, Price
and More
BY TINA RATHORE · DECEMBER 12, 2014
With its 4.75mm thin X5 Max, Vivo is back to
reclaim the crown of the maker of World’s
thinnest smartphone, usurping Oppo who recently
set the record with its ultra svelte 4.85mm Oppo
R5 . But, that’s not the only reason X5 Max is
making waves, there are lot of exciting features
Vivo has shoehorned in its slimmest smartphone
yet. Here’s all you need to know.
Vivo X5 Max Price and Availability
Vivo X5 Max price in India is pegged at 32,890
INR and is available in the brick & mortar stores.

Vivo X5 Max Specifications
Vivo X5 Max features a 5.5″ 1080p Super
AMOLED display which is also the thinnest
measuring just 1.36mm. Under the metal chassis
lies an octa-core Snapdragon 615 SoC comprising
1.7 GHz quad-core Cortex-A53 and 1.0 GHz
quad-core Cortex-A53 64-bit CPU backed by 2
GB RAM. There is an internal storage capacity of
16 GB which can be further expanded up to 128
GB via Micro-SD slot which also doubles as a
Nano SIM card holder for dual SIM connectivity.
The phone runs Android Kitkat dressed in Vivo’s
custom UI Funtouch OS 2.0 For mobile photogs,
Vivo X5 Max packs in an LED flash equipped
13MP camera with a Sony IMX214 sensor, along
with a 5MP snapper for selfies.
Vivo X5 Max
The smartphone comes with the regular
connectivity options, and unlike Oppo R5, Vivo X5
Max keeps the 3.5mm headphone jack instead of
the micro-USB adapter Oppo R5 has forced upon
us to maintain its anorexic waistline. Vivo’s
choice to go with the traditional 3.5 mm jack
shows it dedication towards audiophiles as the
smartphone packs in a range of audio goodies –
a Yamaha YSS-205X signal processor, Sabre
ES9018K2M DAC, exclusive Sabre ES9601
headphone amplifier and OPA1612 amplifier as a
complete Hi-Fi 2.0 package for an enhanced
audio performance and pre-loaded Karaoke app.
All this is fuelled by a non-removable 2000 mAh
battery.
Vivo X5 Max Competitors
Vivo X5 has many competitors that match up to
its waistline- Oppo R5 being the closest at
4.85mm, followed by Gionee Elife S5.1 flaunting a
5.1 mm thin profile. In terms of performance and
functionality,Vivo X5 Max comes neck and neck
with Oppo R5 which flaunts similar set of
specifications but is a better deal for those
looking for enhanced power back-up thanks to
the VOOC rapid charging technique. However, if
you are looking for an upper mid-range
smartphone with best audio features, Vivo X5 Max
is a good choice.
In terms of specifications, Vivo X5 Max is close to
HTC Desire 820 which features a 5.5″ 720p
display, Snapdragon 615 along with 2GB of RAM
all packed in HTC’s signature uni-body design
available for as low as 23,000 INR which makes
the Vivo X5 Max look rather overpriced.
There are many other value upper budget
smartphones worth considering if you don’t want
to trade-off performance for an ultra slim chassis.
Samsung’s last generation flagship Galaxy S5 is
the best camera phone you can grab for 32,000
INR after a recent price cut.

Windows 10 a preview

The end is in sight: Windows 10 will be released on July 29 as a free download for anyone running Windows 7 , Windows 8, or Windows 8.1 ; the free update will be available for a year. If you aren't eligible for the free upgrade (perhaps one of the many still running Windows XP) you can also pick up individual licenses. Windows 10 Home will set you back $119, and Windows 10 Pro will cost you $199. There isn't any word on international pricing, but those prices are identical to Windows 8 pricing, and convert to £78 / AU$156 and £131 / AU$262 for the Home and Pro versions, respectively. The Windows 10 Technical Preview has come a long way over the last nine or so months , but there's still plenty left to iron out before the next generation of Windows is humming along on our PCs, tablets and phones. To that end, the latest build of Windows 10 (Build 10130) is all about bug fixes and cosmetic tweaks. Get a closer look at the Windows 10 Technical Preview (pictures) The Micr

OPPO F3

Oppo has successfully managed to position its front camera-focussed smartphones as ‘Selfie-Experts’ in India. Oppo, which is now the fifth largest smartphone vendor in India, has launched Oppo F3, a stripped down version of the F3 Plus. The highlight of Oppo F3 is the dual (16MP+8MP) front camera setup, which has a group selfie mode as well. Oppo F3 has a smaller screen size and battery when compared to F3 Plus. Pixel size of the rear camera, which was 16MP in F3 Plus, has come down to 13MP in the F3. The new ‘Selfie-Expert’ smartphone is now more affordable at Rs 19,990.
